Never ever heard of THAT happening

We thought the injector had failed once again, that was why the boat was smoking so badly.

Jules’s partner Bobby removed it for me the other day and I took it to a local firm who checked it right there and then.

The injector was fine. So what’s wrong with the damn engine?

I spoke to John. We think it might be the bore sleeve. That’s a £1500 part if it is.

John turned up today and began dismantling the engine (AGAIN).

Guess what? It’s number 4 oil ring (AGAIN). No one has ever heard of no.4 oil ring going once, never mind twice.

John got on the phone to the parts company straight away. After a lengthy diagnosis, they think the oil ring supplied is the wrong size. It needs to be a deeper ring as the thinner one is moving too much and snapping. I really didn’t want to need to know so much about oil rings.

They think its an anomaly in the 1971 year of manufacture. The oil rings for all the other engines are the size that are standardly supplied.

We now have to wait for a modified oil ring to be sent from Norway.

This could only happen to me. Honestly. I’m bloody fed up.
